Santa Monica Chorus Celebrates 7 Year in Song

‘City of Stars’ A Cappella Show comes to the Kirk Douglas Theatre Stage in Culver City on Sunday, July 14th

The Santa Monica Chorus, newly crowned Regional Champions, is turning 70 this year! To celebrate 70 years of women's a cappella singing with Sweet Adelines International, Santa Monica Chorus is hosting a night filled with music through the years.

‘City of Stars’ will be held at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City. The show will feature women’s 4-part barbershop a cappella music from the year the chorus began their chapter in 1949 to music that we all know and love now. The show will also spotlight chorus quartets Gotta Sing!, Vixen, Troubadour, Calypso, and Wild.

Santa Monica Chorus is a non-profit community organization and has been featured on local TV and in Santa Monica holiday and July Fourth celebrations. It is one of the many chapters in Region 11 of Sweet Adelines International. Santa Monica Chorus was founded in 1949, just four years after Sweet Adelines International was established. SAI is an international a cappella singing organization of 21,000 members. Their goal was to create an organization that connects women around the world into one sisterhood.

“We’re dedicated to preserving the unique sound of a cappella barbershop harmony, sharing our passion for music and empowering women in every area of their lives.”

Santa Monica Chorus is excited to celebrate 70 years of singing and to see where the next years will take them. See the chorus grace the Kirk Douglas Theatre stage on Sunday, July 14th at 6:30 PM.

Tickets are only $15. Visit https://cityofstars70.brownpapertickets.com/ more information and for tickets.

This performance is made possible in part by the City of Culver City, in celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Performing Arts Grant Program, with support from Sony Pictures Entertainment.
