Fake Edison Employee Threatens Homeowner

A man pretending to be an employee of Southern California Edison approached this residence near the corner of Overland and Virginia Avenues. After ringing the doorbell, the resident answers and the male suspect says he needs to read the meter. The homeowner realizing it's a scam denies access to the suspect. He then threatens her with cutting off the power. The homeowner tells the suspect she is calling the Culver City Police and states, "You are not accessing my property under any circumstance." The fake Edison meter reader then walks away and left before police arrived.

The red flags were, no ID badge and asked if anyone was home. Southern California Edison verified that no one was sent to the home and did not operate in that manner.

Anyone with any information or who recognizes the suspect should call the watch commander at the Culver City Police Department at (310) 837-1221.

Side note. Never tell anyone that you aren't home when asked. I was 1000 miles away in Colorado inside my father's hospital room when this individual rang the doorbell.
