Culver Police Support Culver City Students

On April 7, 5 members of the Culver City Police Department participated in a half marathon in Century City to remember Culver City Police Sergeant Massey. Massey was tragically killed by a wrong way/DUI driver while on his way to work. The officers won a $5,000 prize.

After collaborating with members of the community, police department, and the Culver City Police Foundation, it was decided that the prize money would be donated to the Culver City Education Foundation (CCEF). Sergeant Massey had a passion for serving the children of the Culver City community. He spent a significant part of his career working juvenile assignments and was an integral part of the Santa Sleigh program.

On June 5, Chief Bixby, Assistant Chief Iizuka, Captain Sims, Sergeant Gary Irwin, Sergeant Luis Martinez, Officer Victor Garcia and Officer Steven Locke presented Melanie Mack, Executive Director of CCEF, with a check for $5,000 to be used to serve the children of Culver City.
