With the construction work at West LA College and the lack of a suitable location, the Culver City Fireworks Show that the Culver City Exchange Club has put on for many years had to be cancelled. Not to despair many communities in Los Angeles will be hosting great fireworks displays.

Here are a few you and your family can see:

The 13th Annual Fourth of July Parade begins on Main Street at 9:30am in Santa Monica.

Santa Monica no longer offers a fireworks show, however Independence Day is filled with fun events. Produced by the Ocean Park Association, celebrate home and country at the 13th annual Santa Monica 4th of July Parade. The Santa Monica Fourth of July Parade has grown every year and brings together families, musicians, civic groups and exhibitionists of all stripes. Come in your red, white and blue! The parade will begin at Pico Boulevard on Main Street and will conclude at the southernmost beach parking lot.

Pre-Holiday Firework Show

The Independence Day Celebration at Santa Monica College will take place on Saturday June 29 from 5 until 10pm. Bring your family and friends to Santa Monica College for a star-spangled salute for an Independence Day Celebration. Come early, picnic on the lawn, enjoy continuous entertainment and special exhibits, and cap off the evening with a spectacular fireworks salute to America.

Get A Great View

Although there are no firework shows offered in Santa Monica on the 4th of July, grab a few friends or the whole family and create your own 4th of July viewing party! Here are just a handful of Santa Monica spots known for their breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean:

• Atop the Pacific Park Ferris wheel on Santa Monica Pier

• On Santa Monica Beach

• The Penthouse at Huntley Santa Monica Beach

• Santa Monica Place dining deck

• ONYX at Hotel Shangri-La

• Or try any of the restaurants on Ocean Avenue

Marina del Rey

Burton Chace Park, Marina del Rey

There's something about watching fireworks over the ocean. Every 4th of July in Marina del Rey, fireworks explode over the marina channel and spectators gather all over to watch at Burton Chace Park or Fisherman's Village (with synchronized music) as well as from Marina "Mother's" Beach, waterfront hotels and restaurants, and on boats. Fireworks start at 9pm and last for about 20 minutes. Arrive early to the area's county lots and take advantage of parking shuttles.

The Palisades Rock the Fourth!

The annual community Music Event, Fourth of July Celebration in Pacific Palisades can be an all-day event. Come join the celebration! There will be 300 minutes of live music on two stages, food trucks, kid activities, and fireworks as the grand finale.

Rock the Fourth is held at Palisades Charter high school 15777 Bowdoin Street in the Pacific Palisades. They encourage walking if possible. Limited parking is available in the Palisades Charter high school lot directly west of the school. Additional parking is available on neighboring streets to the east, west, and southwest of the school. VIP reserve parking can also be purchased in advance for $20 at the Palisades Parade Website.

There are two ticket entrances:

• At the front of the school, at Bowdoin and

• At the rear of the school, at the of teacher's parking lot leading to the baseball field.

In 2017, Palisades Charter high school moved the show from the football stadium (Stadium by the Sea) to the baseball field. Bring blankets or low beach chairs without stick legs so not to block the view of other concertgoers, and to help preserve the field surface.

Long Beach Queen Mary

Watch the Long Beach fireworks (at 9pm) from aboard the Queen Mary, where you'll be able to scope out concerts, family-friendly activities and patriotic-themed events. Alternatively, find a spot anywhere along the waterfront including Belmont Pier, Veteran's Stadium or aboard a harbor cruise.

Rose Bowl

AmericaFest at the Rose Bowl is an explosive celebration of all things red, white and blue. The fireworks won't shoot off until 9pm, but the Rose Bowl will open at 2pm with a goldmine of inflatable rides, games and crafts. If you don't want to venture into the stadium (i.e. pay money), the show is viewable from the areas around the Arroyo, most easily accessible along the Colorado Street Bridge and, somewhat distantly, from parking garage rooftops in Old Pasadena.

Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum

On July 4th unfurl a picnic blanket on the South Lawn of Exposition Park, just next to the Coliseum, and enjoy an afternoon of music, games and kid-friendly activities, followed by a free firework show at 9pm.

Hollywood Forever Cemetery

It may not be Halloween you can settle into Hollywood Forever Cemetery for an Independence Day celebration on both July 3 and 4 with screenings of Mad Max: Fury Road and E.T. Pack your picnic, enjoy the movie and stay on the grass for a fireworks show afterwards. Cinespia's pulling out all the stops for their July 4th celebration, amping up their festivities with a themed photobooth, DJ and fireworks show.

Home Fireworks Shows

Fireworks start an average of 18,500 fires per year, including 1,300 structure fires, 300 vehicle fires, and 16,900 outside and other fires. These fires caused an average of three deaths, 40 civilian injuries, and an average of $43 million in direct property damage.

In 2017, U.S. hospital emergency rooms treated an estimated 12,900 people for fireworks related injuries; 54% of those injuries were to the extremities and 36% were to the head. Children younger than 15 years of age accounted for more than one-third (36%) of the estimated 2017 injuries. These injury estimates were obtained or derived from the Consumer Product Safety Commission's 2015 Fireworks Annual Report by Yongling Tu (NFPA).

The Culver City Police and Fire Departments want to remind residents and visitors that the best way to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday with family and friends is by attending a professional fireworks show. Check out a list of local shows here.

The sale and possession of all fireworks is ILLEGAL in Culver City. This includes "safe and sane" fireworks. All violators may be subject to fines and arrest if caught displaying or in possession fireworks. It is important that the public recognize the potential dangers of the use and handing of fireworks. The risk of injury, especially to children and young adults, is of great concern to the Police and Fire Departments. So, let's have a fun and safe Fourth of July by obeying all laws related to fireworks and celebrate this special holiday by being responsible.
