On Saturday, June 15, three Scouts from Scouting BSA Troop 927 were recognized for attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. Candidates for Eagle Scout must earn 21 merit badges, rise through five ranks of scouting, and complete a service project that benefits the community.

These three young men completed service projects including building an audio-visual equipment closet and repainting the Fellowship Hall of Westchester Lutheran Church, producing several benches installed for use at Open Magnet Charter School, and repairing and enhancing a memorial at the corner of Lincoln Boulevard and Manchester Avenue honoring local Vietnam soldier Lt. Colonel Roosevelt Hestle. Each candidate planned his project, solicited donations, obtained materials, and led volunteers and fellow Scouts during his project until the project was completed.

Eagle is the highest recognition that a Scout can achieve, and only a small percentage of Scouts attain Eagle rank. The Eagle Scout rank represents the pinnacle of achievement in areas including citizenship, character development, outdoor skills, and personal fitness.

Scouting BSA Troop 927 is a Westchester organization chartered by Covenant Presbyterian Church. The Troop makes contributions to the local community through service projects and by participating in and supporting Westchester area service organizations.
