UCLA short stop Ryan Kreidler gets ready to make a play against LMU last Saturday at UCLA in the Los Angeles Regionals. The Bruins play Michigan this weekend in the Super Regionals on Friday, Saturday and Sunday if necessary. All games at set for 6 p.m. at UCLA.

The UCLA baseball hopes to duplicate what the softball team did last Tuesday and their next step in that direction is to win the Los Angeles Super Regional which begins on Friday. The softball team won the National Championship last Tuesday. If the Bruins win the Super Regional this weekend they will go to the College baseball World Series where they will try to win the National Championship.

Their opponent this weekend is Michigan. The Wolverines are 44-19. The first game is Friday. The second game is Saturday and the third game, if necessary will be played on Sunday. All three games start at 6 p.m. and they will take place at UCLA inside the Jackie Robinson Stadium.

To get to the Super Regional the Bruins had to beat Omaha, Baylor and LMU last weekend. They beat Omaha, lost to LMU, they beat Baylor and they had to beat LMU twice to advance to the Super Regionals.

"We have been a really good team all season long," said UCLA head coach John Savage after their loss to LMU last Saturday. " We really don't use the word pressure. We talk about opportunity. It's baseball. We have been No. 1 for 11 weeks but we still have a lot of work to do."

Just like the softball team, the baseball team appears to have few weaknesses. Their pitching is strong, their hitting is solid and their fielding is outstanding. Their pitching staff is led by Jack Ralston.

Chase Strumpf is one of their better hitters along with Garrett Mitchell and Noah Cardeas. Their infield is led by the play of short stop Ryan Kreidler. The Bruins placed seven players on the All-Tournament team last weekends. Strumpf was named the Most Outstanding Player.
