Culver City Observer -

Ballona Creek Cleanup Scheduled

The Ballona Creek Renaissance team is looking for volunteers of all ages for this fun and worthwhile activity where the inland water and incoming tide meet. The cleanup will take place on Saturday June 8 from 9am until noon. Volunteers are to meet at the corner of Centinela Avenue and Milton Street.

Ballona Creek is a place of water, fish, birds, and plants mostly-plastic ocean-bound trash. This is also a great way for students to earn community service credits.

They recommend sunscreen, hats, and close-toed shoes (preferably water-resistant). Feel free to bring your own water in a reusable container and gloves. Water and gloves also will be available at the event, along with bags, grabbers, buckets, rakes, and educational displays.

As with all creek and coastal cleanups, kids under 18 need waiver forms signed by their parent or guardian, available either on-site or on website, http://ballonacreek.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/cleanupwaiversfor-minors2015.pdf

Adult volunteers sign waivers on-site.
