Elmer Hopper of the Platters. Mills Bros. Dies

 

Services will be held for Elmer Hopper of Culver City on Wednesday, May 15th at Gates, Kingsley, Gates Funeral Home in Culver City. He Died on May 5. A celebration of his life will follow at the Mayme A. Clayton Library & Museum in Culver City.

The service will be held from 12-1pm with open viewing until 4pm at Gates Kingsley. Address: 4220 Sepulveda Blvd, Culver City, CA 90230

After funeral celebration begins at 5pm at Mayme A. Clayton Library located at 4130 Overland Ave, Culver City.

Hopper will be remembered locally for his performances with the Mill's Brothers at Culver City's Boulevard Music Festival.

Elmer Hopper entertained audiences across the world since 1974. At the young age of 19, Elmer joined a world renown group -- The Platters. Elmer performed as the group's guitar player and musical director. Shortly thereafter, Paul Robi, a founding member of The Platters, invited Elmer to become the second tenor. Within a very short time, Elmer became lead singer for The Platters.

In 1989, after Paul Robi passed away, Elmer continued as the group's lead singer for another 6 years. During his noteworthy career with The Platters and beyond, Elmer has kept the authentic sound of The Platters alive.

In 1999 Elmer joined another legendary musical group -- The Mills Brothers. He and John Mills continue to perform the classic music of one of America's most acclaimed and beloved groups. Elmer Hopper and John Mills perform The Mills Brothers' hits and continue the group's legacy for audiences across the world.

Any flowers or arrangements can be mailed directly to the funeral home. All are welcome and may share in his loving memory.
