Kevin Durant of the Warriors shoots over Danilo Gallinari of the Clippers last Sunday at the Staples Center. Durant scored 33 points in the Warriors win.

At press time the Clippers were headed to Oakland to play game five of their best of seven playoff series against the powerful Golden State Warriors. The defending NBA champions took the Clippers best shot in game four at Staples Center last Sunday and turned it into a 113-105 victory. Game five was played last Wednesday and even if the Clippers upset the Warriors in Oakland winning the series is highly unlikely.

Jerry West works for the Clippers as a special adviser and he has helped the Clippers make some great moves this season. The former Lakers great has helped several teams from his front office position.

Give the Clippers credit for making it this far. They were picked to win 30-35 games and they won 47 regular season games. That's amazing when you consider they have no superstars or all-star players. What they do have from top to bottom is outstanding people in every category.

From the owner, Steve Balmer to their coach Doc Rivers they are a first class organization. They added Jerry West as an adviser and the Clippers are in a position to sign several free agents in the off season. They will try to persuade some of the best free agents in recent NBA history to put on a Clipper uniform.

Kevin Durant and Kawhi Leonard are at the top of the free agent list this summer. If they can land both of those players to go along with some of the players they already have they would move into the same class as the Houston Rockets and just below the Warriors.

Even with the addition of some top free agents the Western Conference is still a hard nut to crack. Portland, Denver, San Antonio Utah and Oklahoma City all have outstanding players and very good coaches. This summer will be one of the most interesting summers in NBA history.
