Former California Governor, Edmund Gerald "Jerry" Brown Jr. endorses one of the most effective representatives in the state legislature in addressing the social and economic challenges Californians face; Senator Holly J. Mitchell, for the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.

"Holly Mitchell has been a real leader on behalf of the people of Los Angeles. She's negotiated state budgets, championed criminal justice reform and fought to make government work better for everyone – I'm glad to endorse her for Los Angeles County Supervisor" shared Jerry Brown, Former California Governor.

During Brown's gubernatorial terms between 2011 and 2019, he signed over 65 bills authored or supported by Mitchell into law. Mitchell's notable legislative wins for working families, job creation and criminal justice reform include:

• Repealing the Maximum Family Grant Rule within CalWorks that unjustifiably banned aid when new children were born into families that relied on financial support for basic needs.

• Protecting hundreds of thousands of jobs in Los Angeles County -- the entertainment capital of the world -- through the Film and TV Tax Credit.

• Enacting unprecedented juvenile justice reforms within the #EquityandJustice package of bills focused on prevention, rehabilitation and family cohesion.

"Former Governor Brown's endorsement is special to me. His life's work is part of California's history and has undoubtedly shaped its promising future. Working with the former governor to keep the people a priority during financial uncertainty was an indelible experience that has made me a stronger leader." said Holly Mitchell "As County Supervisor, I will continue to use that expertise to meet the needs of the community while also keeping the county budget on a stable path for years to come."

Brown's endorsement is joined by Governor Gavin Newsom, Senate Pro Tem Toni Atkins, Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara, Assemblymember Sydney Kamlager-Dove, Inglewood Mayor James Butts, Culver City Mayor Thomas Small, Culver City Vice Mayor Meghan Sahli-Wells, and Culver City Councilmembers Alex Fisch and Daniel Lee.

Holly J. Mitchell represents nearly one million Los Angeles County residents as State Senator for California's 30th District. She will be on the 2020 ballot to represent District 2 on the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. To learn more visit http://www.HollyJMitchell.com
