Saints Will Test Rams Unbeaten Record

Beat Green Bay Packers 29-27 In nail Biter

November 1, 2018

The 8-0 Los Angeles Rams will march into New Orleans to battle the 6-1 New Orleans Saints on Sunday at 1:25 p.m. Both teams are playing outstanding football in all three phrases of the game, offense, defense and special teams.

Last Sunday the Rams showed they are good enough to win even if they are not at their best. They beat the Green Bay Packers 29-27 after having a slow start in the first half. "I can't say enough about our players' resilience, their ability to just stick together and stay connected," said Rams head coach Sean McVay after their win over the Packers. "It didn't start off great at all for us offensively but the guys settled in, but I don't want to take anything away from the Packers. I thought they did a good job."

The Rams 8-0 start marks the second time in franchise history they have started 8-0. In 1969 they went to 11-0. One of the keys to their successful season is their ability to win on the road and playing in front of neutral crowds. For some strange reason their home field at the Coliseum has turned into a neutral stadium for most of their home games since the team has returned to Los Angeles from St. Louis. "It got a little bit louder than what you would anticipate when you are in your home atmosphere," said McVay.

Right now the Rams are playing like the New England Patriots. Someone gets hurt; they don't skip a beat with their replacements. Rams quarterback Jared Goff has been really fortunate to have a deep receiving rotation. "It's been great to see really," said Goff. "Josh (Reynolds) is stepping up, KhaDarel (Hodge) at times when he gets in there and then Nick Williams as well in the absence of Coper (Kupp)." Reynolds caught two touchdown passes against the Packers.

Although the Packers ran for over 100 yards the defense and special teams made the plays they needed to make to win the game. "We rely on each other," said Goff. "Today we really leaned heavy on the defense and they came up huge for us. I think Aaron (Donald) is playing at a insanely high level right now. Just being able to lean on all of those guys on defense and special teams is important." Donald has a league leading 10 sacks.
