2018 NFL Power Rankings - Week 4

1. Los Angeles Rams (4-0) - The Rams have the #1 ranked offense in the NFL. They have the #2 ranked passing offense in the NFL. The rushing attack is led by All-Pro Todd Gurley. Good luck trying to stop these guys. Next: at Seattle Seahawks - Sun, Oct. 7

2. Kansas City Chiefs (4-0) - Patrick Mahomes is on a roll, having thrown 14 touchdown passes and zero interceptions. Mahomes has overcome a defense ranked last in the NFL. So how does a team beat the Chiefs? Stop Mahomes. Next: vs Jacksonville Jaguars - Sun, Oct. 7

3. Jacksonville Jaguars (3-1) - Blake Bortles has been inconsistent and Leonard Fournette is out with a hamstring injury. The Jaguars defense is the best in the NFL and by itself can take this team to the playoffs. Next: at Kansas City Chiefs - Sun, Oct. 7

4. New Orleans Saints (3-1) - Dree Brees is off to a fast start with eight touchdowns and zero interceptions. Mark Ingram will return to the lineup this week, which will make the offense even more potent. Next: vs Washington Redskins - Mon, Oct. 8

5. Baltimore Ravens (3-1) - The Ravens rushing defense is ranked #4 in the NFL and the Ravens passing defense is also ranked #4 in the NFL. With Joe Flacco playing well the Ravens have the look of a playoff team. Next: at Cleveland Browns - Sun, Oct. 7

6. Chicago Bears (3-1) - The Bears have a big-play defense. They lead the NFL in sacks, are second interceptions and second in turnovers. With Khalil Mack leading the defense this team could win with Trent Dilfer at quarterback. Next: at Miami Dolphins - Sun, Oct. 14

7. Carolina Panthers (2-1) - Christian McCaffrey is 2nd in the NFL in yards from scrimmage per game with 142 yards per game. Cam Newton is looking good in the Norv Turner offense and the defense is solid. Next: vs New York Giants - Sun, Oct. 7

8. Cincinnati Bengals (3-1) - The Bengals are scoring points and they have to with their defense. Andy Dalton is off to a good start but unless the defense improves he will not be able to carry the team to the playoffs. Next: vs Miami Dophins - Sun, Oct. 7

9. Philadelphia Eagles (2-2) - Carson Wentz is healthy but the Eagles are still struggling. Maybe it is a Super Bowl hangover but they do not look sharp. Are we seeing how significant Frank Reich was? Next: vs Minnesota Vikings - Sun, Oct. 7

10. New England Patriots (3-2) - The Pats have survived the first quarter of the season. Julian Edelman will be back this week and with Josh Gordon, that should open the offense up for Tom Brady. Next: vs Kansas City Chiefs - Sun, Oct. 14

11. Green Bay Packers (2-1-1) - Aaron Rodgers will be 35 in December and is playing on a bad knee, but you couldn't tell from his play on the field. As long as Rodgers is upright the Packers should make the playoffs. Next: at Detroit Lions - Sun, Oct. 7

12. Washington Redskins (2-1) - Adrian Petersen is off to a good start and combined with the play-action skills of quarterback Alex Smith is giving opposing defenses fits. Did you know that the Redskins are in first place in the NFC East? Next: at New Orleans - Mon, Oct. 8

13. Minnesota Vikings (1-2-1) - What happened to the #1 ranked defense in the NFL in 2017? The 2018 Vikings are ranked at #21 on the defensive side. The Vikings went 13-3 last season. It will be a struggle to get to 10 wins this season. Next: at Philadelphia Eagles - Sun, Oct. 7

14. Los Angeles Chargers (2-2) - The Chargers are balanced on offense and defensively they are getting back Corey Liuget. If they can ever get both Joey Bosa and Derwin James on the field at the same time they could be a top 5 defense. Next: vs Oakland Raiders - Sun, Oct. 7

15. Tennessee Titans (3-1) - The Titans continue to win ugly, grinding their way to three straight wins each by three points. While their winning close games in the 4th quarter has been impressive, is this a playoff team?Next: at Buffalo Bills - Sun, Oct. 7

16. Miami Dolphins (3-1) - The Dolphins may be the worst 3-1 team in the NFL. The defense has been dominated over the past two weeks. The Dolphins are in first place in the AFC East but they are not the best team in the division. Next: at Cincinnati Bengals - Sun, Oct. 7

17. Denver Broncos (2-2) - The Broncos are better offensively with Case Keenum, but they will not make the playoffs if they cannot run the ball. The defense still has Von Miller but it has slipped. Next: at New York Jets - Sun, Oct. 7

18. Atlanta Falcons (1-3) - The Falcons are the best 1-3 team in football. They have so many weapons on offense that they are a matchup nightmare on defense. Injuries are killing the defense but the offense will keep scoring. Next: at Pittsburgh Steelers - Sun, Oct. 7

19. Pittsburgh Steelers (1-2-1) - Big Ben is struggling to win without a running game. The defense is not helping and Le'Veon Bell is still holding out. The season is on the brink of a collapse. Next: vs Atlanta Falcons - Sun, Oct. 7

20. Dallas Cowboys (2-2) - The Cowboys have Ezekiel Elliott and a top five defense. But the NFL is a passing league and you must be able to complete a pass and move the chains. Dak Prescott needs to improve. Next: at Houston Texans - Sun, Oct. 7

21. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-2) - The Bucs have allowed the most points in the NFL. They have talent on offense but they are never going to be able to score enough points to win enough games with their defense. Next: at Atlanta Falcons - Sun, Oct. 14

22. Seattle Seahawks (2-2) - The loss of Earl Thomas is not going to help. They have won two straight with an improved running game but they will need to continue running to help Russell Wilson and keep the defense off the field. Next: vs Los Angele Rams - Sun, Oct. 7

23. Oakland Raiders (1-3) - The Raiders have the #2 ranked offense in the NFL in total yardage per game. The issues have been Derek Carr, who is tied for the NFL lead in interceptions, and a pass rush that is tied for last in sacks. Next: at Los Angeles Chargers - Sun, Oct. 7

24. Cleveland Browns (1-2-1) - The Browns could easily be 4-0. The defense is playing well under Defensive Coordinator Gregg Williams. The fate of this season is in the hands of rookie Baker Mayfield, who has looked good so far. Next: vs Baltimore Ravens - Sun, Oct. 7

25. San Francisco 49ers (1-3) - C.J. Beathard played well against the Chargers and the 49ers can run the ball. They will not make the playoffs but they will be competitive under Head Coach Kyle Shanahan. Next: vs Arizona Cardinals - Sun, Oct. 7

26. Houston Texans (1-3) - Deshaun Watson has been sacked 17 times and is on a pace to be sacked 68 times. Both Watson and the offensive line need to fix this issue if the Texans are going to have any chance to make the playoffs. Next: vs Dallas Cowboys - Sun, Oct. 7

27. Indianapolis Colts (1-4) - Andrew Luck looks like he is back and the Colts have been competitive. They could easily be 3-1. The Colts have some young players on defense and are about a year away from being a playoff team. Next: at New York Jets - Sun, Oct. 14

28. New York Giants (1-3) - The Giants have Saquon Barkley and Odell Beckham, yet they continue to struggle on offense. The offensive line is clearly a problem, but another losing season could the last season for Eli Manning. Next: at Carolina Panthers - Sun, Oct. 7

29. Detroit Lions (1-3) - The Lions have looked better the past three weeks after their train wreck opening game. Matt Stafford still has the burden of carrying a mediocre roster but the team is at least competitive. Next: vs Green Bay Packers - Sun, Oct. 7

30. New York Jets (1-3) - The Jets are who we thought they were. After their stunning opening game blowout of Detroit on the road, they have lost three straight and Sam Darnold looks like what he is, a rookie quarterback. Next: vs Denver Broncos - Sun, Oct. 7

31. Buffalo Bills (1-3) - They will always have "Minnesota." This is a team that needs an infusion of talent and the time to develop that talent. Josh Allen, if he can avoid becoming David Carr, has a bright future. Next: vs Tennessee Titans - Sun, Oct. 7

32. Arizona Cardinals (0-4) - The Cardinals are last in time of possession and last in total offense in the NFL. They are wasting the offensive talents of Larry Fitzgerald and David Johnson with the conservative, predictable play calling. Next: vs Minnesota Vikings - Sun, Oct. 7
