Seven models of Culver's Emblem Club showed the hottest clothing designs for autumn at their charity fashion show this week. Front row (left-to right): Ann Scully, Dee Derrett, Trisha Gonzales and Darlene Rogers. Back: Paula Hernandez, Edna "Irish" Doyle and Gay Chambers.

Nearly 75 members of the Culver City Emblem Club and their friends attended the organization's annual charity fundraising fashion show and lunch this week at the local Elks Lodge, dining on gourmet food and then previewing the dresses, pants, business attire and accessories that promise to be among the trend-setting styles this fall and winter.

Seven models, most of them Emblem members, strutted through the crowd to show-off the latest designs. The clothes were provided by dressbarn (www.dressbarn.com), a nationwide chain that prides itself for offering "fashion at a value" for more than 50 years.

Fashion show narrator Jodi Gabbard, a dressbarn assistant manager, said the trendiest fall and winter colors this year will include a pale "blush rose," forest green and burgundy. A dark blue, which dressbarn calls "ship-shape Navy," will be especially popular for office attire.

Another trend-setting color for clothing: Mustard yellow.

Mustard yellow?

"Yes, mustard yellow," Gabbard assured a surprised reporter. "People either love it or hate it."

The event was organized by Luisa Saenz, a tireless Emblem Club volunteer and one of the organization's past presidents.

The Emblem Club is the unofficial auxiliary unit of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (www.culvercityelks#1917.org), assisting the Elks in its variety of charitable endeavors.
