Deadline set for Culverites to Run in Japan

The Culver City Sister City Committee, a nonprofit international and intercultural community organization, is looking for one male and one female runner to participate in the 26th Annual Osaka Senshu International City Marathon in Japan.

The deadline for applications is Sept.14. The marathon will be held in February.

As good citizen-diplomats, the two selected runners will live with Kaizuka host families during their five-day stay.

Applicants must be at least 18, be regular runners, and be able to run a mostly flat course in winter conditions.

They must also be keen on representing Culver City and be interested in embracing, contributing and participating in the Sister City relationship while in Kaizuka and upon their return home.

Currently, expenses will cover airfare, lodging, meals and sightseeing. Participants must have their own international insurance.

Priority will be given to Culver City residents, working or living within a two-mile radius. Applicants must have participated in at least one full marathon within the last two years and completed the run within four hours, 15 minutes.
