Senator Mitchell Endorses O'Leary for Board of Equalization

State Senator Holly Mitchell has endorsed Micheál [Me-Haul] O'Leary in his bid for the Board of Equalization, District 3, weeks prior to the June 5th State Primary Election.

"Micheál O'Leary has shown true leadership and commitment to the public interest, and I know he's the most qualified candidate for the Board of Equalization. He'll be a strong advocate for the district," said Senator Mitchell.

Earlier this year, O'Leary obtained the endorsement of every council member in Culver City (Cooper, Clarke, Sahli-Wells, Small, Eriksson,) making him the only candidate in the race able to secure the support of local elected officials.

Originally from Dublin, Ireland, O'Leary studied agricultural science at University College Dublin, immigrating to the U.S. with only $700 in his pocket. Micheál began working in the service industry, eventually opening his own pub in Culver City. He was elected to the Culver City City Council twice, terming out as Mayor in 2016. The following year he sold his business to run for the Board of Equalization, with the stated intent to run internal audits of State Government.

Micheál's goal is to motivate the Legislature to do the Constitutional Amendment required to remove the office.
