My Holiday Wishes

Smart And Spicy

December 21, 2017

Did you see that little video online with the woman feeding a baby polar bear? From a few days after birth, it jumps to a week, then lists the number of days up to about three months as we see the little polar bear being gently comforted by touch, then nurtured from a bottle.

It hardly looks like a polar bear at first; then it slowly becomes the little furry image of a polar bear. Sweet to watch, it makes one's heart feel good.

Have you seen the video of a man jumping up-and-down, gesticulating wildly, and looking full-on crazed, at the very edge of one of the big LA fires? He's doing some out-of-control dance; it appears, until what also appears are the ears of the little bunny he just pulled out of danger.

There's a feeling you get deep inside when you see things like this; it feels good. It's just a moment perhaps, yet it imbues a sense of hope and life's good.

I wish you that feeling.

I wish you an escape route from trouble whether it's fire, earthquake, illness, financial, whatever.

Beneath overpasses, under freeway bridges, encampments show life's hard as people without homes; they too, feel it's holiday time. A little stack of lights, a pile of ornaments at the curb, this gives a way for homeless people to celebrate.

Christmas decorations curb side?

I wish you the spirit of the person who sets that up.

I wish you the pleasures of being alone, and that you don't feel loneliness when you are alone. I wish you nutritious food that you enjoy.

I wish you the joy of never getting caught.

For whatever.

I wish you fun! Wherever you find it.

I wish you the prize in a Cracker Jack box, for any situation.

I wish you a four leaf clover.

I wish you splendid health.

I wish you joy. I wish you joy.

I wish you love for yourself.

I wish you the pleasure of pleasure.

I wish when you get a fortune cookie all the fortunes are good.

The most important decision you'll ever make is to be in a good mood.

Happy? Holidays

I hope you enjoy the holidays vicariously, if not for yourself.

I hope you might volunteer if you see an opportunity.

I hope you'll be kind.

"We scientists have found that doing a kindness produces the single most reliable momentary increase in well-being of any exercise we have tested," says the wise Martin Seligman.

Christmas isn't your thing? Maybe you can celebrate vicariously when you see a neighbour’s tree beautifully decorated.

Maybe you can have your own private contest of which street or shop decorations are the most (or the least?) tasteful.

Perhaps you celebrate Chanukah, Christmas, or Kwanza, or not. Indeed, whether "Bah, Humbug" is more your thing, holidays permeate life for these days. Embracing the feeling can make a huge difference. Even if it's not your holiday, or even if you feel it's a bit much, it can be fun to breathe it in.

Scents tingle, excitement's turn on.

I wish you, your friends and your family beauty and good will.

Peace on earth would be lovely, too.
