On December 11 the City Council of the City of Culver City presented a Commendation to Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) in recognition for its donation of a digital projection system for the Auditorium in Veterans Memorial Building.

“Sony Pictures Entertainment has been a generous partner and sponsor for many of the City of Culver City’s distinguished programs and events. This contribution of a new projection system for the Veterans Memorial Building will be a tremendous asset for the City," said Culver City Mayor Jeffrey Cooper.

The new equipment includes a digital projector and lens, a perforated projection screen, a Blu-ray player, a portable sound system, and all of the associated hardware required to present screenings again in the Auditorium. “The user-friendly digital projection system will benefit residents, businesses, and visitors as well as attract film festivals and more special events to the City," added Mayor Cooper.

The equipment was accepted by the City’s Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department. SPE’s Worldwide Global Policy and External Affairs and Media Services Departments were instrumental in providing their skills to City staff during installation.

“As a longstanding member of the Culver City community, SPE saw an opportunity to maximize the potential of this wonderful space. With the help of Lane Burch and our impressive Media Services Team, we were able to add the equipment and expertise to transform the facility into a world-class screening room that hundreds of people can enjoy,” said Janice Pober, Senior Vice President, Global Corporate Social Responsibility, SPE.
