Road Rage Shooting Nets Arrest

December 7, 2017

In what police thought would be a difficult case to crack, police said a KTLA news story, in which police asked for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect, resulted in an anonymous tip that led to the suspect’s arrest. Lucian Wayne Bingham-Jackson, 24, of Los Angeles was arrested on Nov. 30 and booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

The run-in occurred about 11 a.m. Oct. 28 when the woman was near Culver and Overland Avenue. The car pulled up alongside her as she hit a red light on Overland between Palm Court and Sony Pictures.

At the time she told KTLA he glared at her while his music was blaring in the background. His window was down, so she rolled hers down too and confronted him.

“I looked at him and said, “Hey, relax, it’s Saturday morning, you don’t need to drive so fast. He told me to eff off and I immediately closed my window," the woman recounted.

She said it was at that point that he pulled out some type of pellet gun and started shooting at her windshield. She immediately ducked for cover.

The woman, whose name was withheld, was not injured.

Culver City Police searched his residence and found a black pellet handgun believed used in the crime.
