Dodgers Extend Remarkable Streak To 11

Last weekend when the Dodgers made it 29 wins in their last 33 games Clayton Kershaw and Justin Turner asked the same question. “Has this been a five-week hot streak or is this who we are?”“Í don’t think it’s fair to us to say it’s just a five-week hot streak,” said Turner. After winning nine straight games – six of them on the road – the Dodgers started this week with two wins against the White Sox in Chicago and they’ll complete the week with a four-game

series at Dodger Stadium against Atlanta Thursday through Sunday. Kershaw was the winning pitcher Tuesday night in a 1-0 victory over the White Sox.The Dodgers then hit four home runs in beating the White Sox on Wednesday, 9-1 as Kenta Made won his eighth game of the season. The Dodgers record of 66-29 is their best 95-game start since 1942. “We have so much confidence that we’re going to win every game,” said manager Dave Roberts. “We just have to prove it.”One reason the Dodgers have done so well is the performance of 21-year-old Cody Bellinger who didn’t make the team in spring training but has been spectacular since coming from the minor leagues on April 25. He’s hit 26 home runs and last week became the first rookie in the Dodgers’ 128-year history to hit for the cycle

Another is the 10-game winning streak of Alex Wood, whose emergence gives the Dodgers another ace pitcher behind Kershaw. The list includes Kanley Jansen an all-star relief pitcher who repeatedly saves games. He saved Kershaw’s win Tuesday and he’s struck out 62 batters this season and walked only two. Then there’s 23-year-old shortstop Corey Seager and right fielder Yasiel Puig. When Puig signed with the Dodgers he felt pressure to live up to high expectations. Maybe it has helped with a few years of maturity that he now enjoys winning while batting eighth and watching teammates provide a lot of offensive help. The Dodgers will be home in their next 10 games, Following the series against the Braves they’ll host Minnesota for three games and San Francisco for three.
