Under the Republicans the Congressional Budget Office figures a 64-year-old making $26,500 per year would see health care premiums increase, bythe year 2026, by 750 percent. Under current law they pay $1,700 but, perCBO projections, under the new bill this group would have to pay almost $14,600, which is more than half their yearly income. The Beverly Hills Police Department will begin the expansion of their closed-circuit television (CCTV) surveillance and automated license plate recognition (ALPR) into residential areas as part of their crime prevention program. Beverly Hills has 500 cameras in non-residential areas where ALPR and CCTV have been valuable tools for crime prevention. ALPR cameras cost $15,000 each and CCTV cameras are $20,000 each. The video tapes are kept for 48 months (ALPR) or 13 months (CCTV). Recently I heard some Culver City homeless figures were suppressed to help pass Prop H; maybe by the time you read this, factual figures will have been released by the wing nuts in City Hall. I would hope the numbers are going down but it seems we have more people who need assistance. Get out your checkbook because the most expensive house in the U.S. hit the market in Bel Air. It’s $250 million and it’s at 924 Bel Air Road. Four levels, 12 bedrooms, 21 bathrooms, 38,000 square feet. It’s a steal. For those who shop at Victoria’s Secret you just might know they hold their semi-annual sale in June and many other retailers, including major department stores, follow suit. Look for discounts of up to 90 percent on lingerie and 50 percent on swimsuits throughout the month.

The money problems of the Beverly Hills Unified School District brought tears to my eyes. Things are so bad they are talking about transforming their 3.5 acre administration complex to a mixed-use development. The first floor would be for the school district and the other floor would be apartments. As I recall, in January 2017 Beverly Hills School District sold theirsuperintendent’s house for $2.3 million for a profit of approximately $740,000. I wonder how much money the City of Culver City and its citizens gave to the City Manager as part of his employment package. Am I correct that the house in question is on Madison Avenue?
