Oregon Men Beat No. 2 UCLA, 89-87; USC Stays Unbeaten

Pac-12 basketball for men and women started this week and if the game between UCLA and Oregon men is any indication this season is going to be a great one. Eleven on the 12 men’s teams have winning records and the one team that is below .500, Oregon State is also a solid team.

No. 21 Oregon men beat No. 2 UCLA 89-87 on a last second three point shot by Dillion Brooks last Wednesday to drop the Bruins to 13-1 and 0-1 in Pac-12 play. The game was played in front of a sellout crowd of 12,364 in Eugene.

The Bruins were led by Thomas Welch’s 20 points, Bryce Alford scored 20, Lonzo Ball had 14 and TJ Leaf scored 13. UCLA finishes its road trip tonight (Friday) against Oregon State at 8 p.m.

No. 22 USC men beat Oregon State last Wednesday 70-63. The Trojans were led by Chimezie Metu’s 19 points and seven rebounds. They conclude their road trip tonight (Friday ) against Oregon at 7 p.m. on Fox Sports 1. USC is 14-0 and they are off to their best start since the 1970-71 season.

The No. 10, 9-2 UCLA women start their Pac-12 season tonight (Friday) against 11-0 Utah at Pauley Pavilion on the UCLA campus at 7 p.m. and they play Colorado on Sunday, New Year’s Day at home at 12 p.m.

The USC women’s basketball team is 9-2 and start their Pac-12 league play tonight (Friday) against Colorado at 6 p.m. at the Galen Center on the USC campus. On Sunday they face Utah at 12 p.m.
