Mermaid Costume Winner at CCHS Halloween Contest

November 3, 2016

Angeline Wacker is the winner of the Halloween costume contest at Culver City High this year. She is wearing a custom crafted Mermaid costume she made of hundreds of hand applied shells and pearls to the tiara, matching shoes and bra top.

Also braided into the hip length pink wig are shell and pearl strands hand tied to fishing line. The full length turquoise skirt has a feather waistband which looks like seaweed. The feathers also were used on the sleeves and shoes to tie in the ensemble.

Angeline is a graduating senior and her costume was used as part of her fashion design portfolio needed to apply to Drexel University and Long Beach State University.

Last year her original steam punk costume with retractable wings couldn’t win because there was no category for it. So this year they added a category for “most original” which she won as well as “best overall costume”.

She says, “I’m really excited to study fashion design next year at a university.”
