Folks, ever since I started writing this column years ago, articles regarding despicable actions done by law enforcement agencies all over this great country have appeared. Many of you realize the reason was to draw a comparison between those bad cops and the good guys of Culver City. In the 40 or so years that I have lived in town we have all seen the good skills police with which Chief Bixby and others on his team take care of our business.

As such we don’t need, nor should we vote to allow, in my opinion, the city Manager to reach out with this power grab to put both fire and police departments under the city manager’s control.

If the city hall elite want to claim this is only for efficiency (what a joke), then let us reduce the number of council members from five to three. Don’t be fooled, don’t be misled, this system is not broken, so why does the city manager need to take control of two departments he knows so very little about?

Many of us are not knowledgeable about Prop. 57. To get Prop 57 on the ballot proponents obtained over one million signatures in less than two months. I’m for 57 because this legislation would take away the power of district attorneys to direct youth into the adult system, and return sentencing power back to the judges. It allows those with non-violent crimes to be paroled before having to serve enhancements. We are requesting your help in passing prop 51- for further questions. If you remember “The Brady Bunch” then you recall Eve Plumb, who played Jan. In 1969 Eve bought, at age 11, for $55,300, a house in Malibu with five bedrooms, that she sold recently for almost $4 million. The new owner plans to tear it down and the new structure would have three bedrooms, two and a half baths, a two-car garage, floor-to-ceiling glass walls and a retractable “moon roof.”

I recently read about the ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals in New York which stated federal courts could seize state pension-protected funds of corrupt politicians. The court sided with the government’s argument that federal law trumps state constitutional protection of retirement funds.

I was looking over the list of the 500 largest delinquent sales and use tax accounts over $100,000 here in California, and much to my surprise at number 57 is Le Faubourg LLC, doing business as Saint Amour at 9725 Culver Blvd., Culver City, CA 90232-2739. I have been asked by some veterans who are members of the Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH) to get the word out regarding the Veterans Administration conducting a health study of Vietnam veterans to include Blue Water Navy veterans. The higher the rate of response, the clearer a picture the VA will get of the percentage and number of Blue Water Navy veterans that are sick from Agent Orange. Reply no later than December 31, 2016.

Marines are all over the world on various operations. For example, on September 7 they were in Australia, Belize, Bulgaria, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Iraq, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Libya, Romania and Spain.

For those of us who use the Public Records Act to obtain documents in a timely basis there is good news. A newspaperman filed with the City of Beverly Hills to obtain police department records pertaining to alleged family abuse by Mayor Mirisch in 2008, 2010 and 2011. Their city attorney tried to use the poo poo argument that incident reports were exempt from disclosure. So Mr. Russell Carollo sued, but even before the suit hit the court room and before His Honor put on the black robe, the city of the very rich and famous elected to pony up all papers and an additional $9,357.50 in attorney’s fees.
