Trojan Women Volleyball Team Defeats Arizona State

The USC women's volleyball team won itsr third match in a row against Arizona State last Wednesday at the Galen Center on the USC campus. They will battle the University of Arizona on Friday in another tough Pac-12 match at 7 p.m.

Their 3-1 win over Arizona State marked the 1000th win for the Trojan women's volleyball program. USC was led by its outstanding freshman outside hitter Khalia Lanier who recorded her eighth double-double of the season. She had 22 kills and 11 digs.

Other Trojans that helped out in the victory were the athletic Niki Withers with 12 kills, Alyse Ford also had 12 kills and team captain Taylor Whittingham had 23 digs.

The Trojans are 11-5 overall and 3-2 in the Pac-12 and their next opponent, Arizona is 10-6 and 2-2. Overall the USC coach, Mick Haley is pleased with his team. "We are getting better," said Haley after the win last Wednesday. "Our numbers are good and the eye test is good. Our outside hitters are doing a good job. We are starting to stay in rhythm and we are looking forward to playing Arizona."

The UCLA women's volleyball team is 11-3 and 2-2 and they play Arizona State on Friday at 7 p.m. inside Pauley Pavilion on the UCLA campus. The Bruins will complete their two-game home stand on Sunday at 11 a.m. against Arizona.
