Sparks Are In WNBA Finals

The Los Angeles Sparks will play the Minnesota Lynx in the 206 WNBA Finals starting Sunday October 9, in Minnesota at 12 p.m. at the Target Center.

Game 2 will also be played in Minnesota at 5 p.m. and Games 3 and 4 will take place in Los Angeles. Game 3 will be played at USC's Galen Center on Friday, October 14, at 6 p.m. and Game 4, if necessary will take place at Staples Center on Sunday, October 16, at 5:30 p.m.

To reach the finals the Sparks beat the Chicago Sky 3-1 in a best-of five-game series. Once again the Sparks relied on their two best players to carry most of the load. WNBA Most Valuable Player Nneka Ogwumike and former WNBA MVP Candace Parker along with the rest of the Sparks were too much for the Sky who were missing last years' MVP Elena Delle Donne. Delle Donne missed the entire series with a thumb injury.

The Sparks started the season with a record of 21-1 but after the Olympic break they got off track. Against Chicago they started to look like the June and July team.

"We never get too high or too low," said Parker last week. "After the Olympic break we hit a bit of adversity. We were not playing as well as we wanted to but the way we battled back tells me more about our team even more when we were 21-1. It takes adversity to win a championship and we need to trust the process."
