Speaker To Discuss Death Penalty

Culver-Palms United Methodist Church is presenting a program on the Death Penalty in California on Sunday, April 17, noon to 1:30 pm.

The speaker will be Walter Johnson, a long time social justice activist who has studied death penalty issues extensively.

He will discuss the work of "Justice that Works" which is a grassroots organization dedicated to reforming America's broken criminal system by replacing the Death Penalty with life in prison without the possibility of parole, requiring offenders to pay restitution to victims, and saving tax payers billions of dollars in the process.

The organization is currently gathering signatures for an initiative to be placed on the November 2016 ballot to replace the Death Penalty in California.

An optional lunch from El Pollo Loco will be provided for a suggested donation of $8. Reservations for lunch are strongly encouraged.

RSVP to the church at 310-390-7717 or culverpalmsumc@yahoo.com. The church is located at 4464 Sepulveda Blvd., Culver City.
