The UCLA Bruins football team will play the Oregon State Beavers for the first time in three years Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in Corvallis. The Bruins, who are coming off a 35-31 win over Colorado last Saturday hope their injuries do not get in the way of their will to win.

Against Colorado the Bruins defense was on the field for over 41 minutes in a 60-minute game. The noon kickoff time, plus the 90 degree weather created a combination that produced injuries, cramps and heat exhaustion.

"To overcome the things that we did today is staggering," said UCLA head coach Jim Mora after the game last Saturday. "It was hard. It was tough. The team showed true grit. It was one of the most rewarding wins I have had since I came to UCLA. So I am excited."

Mora needed an extra scorecard to keep track of who was in the game. "I could not tell you who was in the game on any given play," said Mora. "When you talk about embracing a team win, that's what those guys did today."

Colorado used a controlled offense to control the tempo and keep the Bruin's offense off the field. UCLA's defensive coordinator, Tom Bradley was proud of his unit. "I thought the players really hung in there tough. They played hard. We had players playing in positions that they have never played before. We did the best we could do."

Against Oregon State UCLA will need to watch out for a trap game. Oregon State is 2-6 and 0-4 in the Pac-12 north. Hopefully the Bruins won't look past the Beavers to their three remaining games they have on the regular season schedule against winning teams.

After the Colorado game senior center and team captain Jake Brendel said, "This game showed how strong our recruiting classes have been over the past few years. We are on the right track and we are headed in the right direction."

The No. 7-ranked UCLA women's volleyball team is 18-4 and will host Utah tonight at 7 p.m. and their next game will be at home Thursday at 8 p.m. against Oregon.
