Angels' Trout Turns 24 Doing Great Work

Angels outfielder Mike Trout celebrated his 24th birthday on August 7 owning a .305 (689/2259) average with 130 doubles, 28 triples, 130 home runs, 375 RBI and 449 runs scored in 597 career games. Below you will find a summary of some of Trout’s accomplishments prior to turning 24:

• His 130 career home runs are tied with Frank Robinson for 4th all-time by a player before his 24th birthday, trailing only Eddie Mathews (153 HR), Mel Ott (153) and Ken Griffey Jr. (132).

• Is one of seven players since 1920 (when RBI became an official stat), to log 375+ RBI and 425+ runs before their 24th birthday: Mel Ott, Jimmie Foxx, Ted Williams, Al Kaline, Mickey Mantle and Alex Rodriguez.

• At 288 career extra base hits, only Mel Ott (342), Ken Griffey Jr. (317), Ted Williams (300), Alex Rodriguez (293) and Jimmie Foxx (290) tallied more in their careers before turning 24.

• Joins Jimmie Foxx, Mel Ott, Ted Williams and Hank Aaron as the only players with at least 125 doubles, 25 triples and 100 home runs prior to their 24th birthday.

• Only four players have ever amassed 100+ SB and 1250+ TB before turning 24: Ty Cobb (254/1327), Cesar Cedeno (205/1266), Alex Rodriguez (118/1417) and Mike Trout (112/1265).
