Like many of us I have very limited time. It seems like the list of “forgetful-nots” done on a daily basis is getting longer and longer. Now I came across a way to take care of the hours spent looking for just the right greeting card.

I got a card in the mail the other day from a friend of mine with my picture printed right on it. He sent it from his computer. He is in business with SENDOUTCARDS. You can send cards and gifts, market yourself or your business, and if you want to earn extra money, you can do that too. Just go to his website at http://www.sendoutcards/114567 and see for yourself.

The next meeting of the Culver City Democratic Club will be at 7 p.m. in Veterans Auditorium on June 10. The public is invited to hear Police Chief Scott Bixby.

Did you hear about the automobile plant being built in South Carolina for Volvo? It will cost approximately $500 million and have an initial capacity of 100,000 vehicles a year by 2018. The Chinese bought Volvo a while back and this will be its first auto assembly plant in the United States. Volvo will receive $125 million in tax breaks.

They finally heard me and others ask, “Why don’t they clean up ‘dirty’ water and reuse it?” In Fountain Valley that is actually what’s going on, and it took just 45 minutes to go through several stages of purification that left the water cleaner than anything that flows from your faucet or is purchased from the grocery store. No, I don’t know the cost, but it should be cheaper than a desalination facility.

Finally, the James McBride has been found, and it took only 158 years for the Coast Guard to locate the ship that went down in Lake Michigan on October 19, 1857, when a storm caused her to run aground, and has been resting in water 5 to 15 feet deep.

The Redondo Beach City Council on April 21 voted to spend $53,000 to purchase a wooden barge to be installed in King Harbor. The 700 square foot barge could hold up to 116 sea lions.

Are you concerned about glaucoma? Then be sure to read a very interesting article in the American Journal of Ophthalmology regarding how cat and roach allergens are linked to glaucoma.

One could easily write the entire commentary on General Petraeus or, as some have called him, “General Betray Us.” He gave classified information to his female biographer and cover-up lies were told to the FBI – probably the Army investigators and others as well. So what did the former general and CIA director receive as punishment? Two years’ probation and a $100,000 fine. What a joke.

As 3rd Armored Cavalry Regimental cryptographer I was responsible for enough code books to fill a suitcase, and more than once I was told what the consequences would be if screwed up and failed in my responsibility to safeguard those documents. Why, I would spend many a birthday in the U.S. Army prison at Fort Leavenworth stockade, and rightly so.

The California Department of Toxic Substances Control is talking about banning lead fishing tackle.

North Korea appears to be on track to deploy, in four or five years, a fully operational submarine capable of launching ballistic missiles. North Korea state media said on May 10 that its military conducted a successful test launch of a new ballistic missile from a submarine.
