April 16, 2015

A three week ordeal is over for the family of a missing 15-year-old girl from Mar Vista.

She was recovered by the Los Angeles Police Department from a home in Culver City.

Samuel Robert Duran Jr., 33, was arrested for allegedly repeatedly raping the girl and is now behind bars at Los Angeles County Jail. His bail has been set at $8 million.

The girl went missing on March 24, shortly after she had gone for a walk at Mar Vista Recreation Center. She lived in the 11200 block of Westminster Avenue. She reportedly left her home after an argument with her mother regarding her medications.

Family and friends were immediately concerned for the girl, especially since she has autism and was in need of medication.

The girl called her mother from Duran's cell phone which enabled police to track the call. The girl said, "Mommy, help. Mommy help."

L.A.P.D. is now investigation how Duran met the girl. They believe she was at the man's home in Culver City for 21 days.

Los Angeles Police Department detectives are working with the FBI and the Culver City Police Department on the investigation. Anyone with further information on this case is urged to call the LAPD Pacific Area Sexual Assault Unit at (310) 482-6313, or (877) LAPD-247.

Duran lives in a house behind his Grandparents' home.
