Linda was born in Culver City, California on July 31, 1944. She grew up in Los Angeles and graduated from Venice high school. Shortly after graduation, her family relocated to Boston, MA where she met Vince Motyl, who was in the United States Air Force. They were married in November, 1964 and relocated to Pittsburgh, PA. Linda, Vince and their three children, Debbi, Theresa and Vincent, returned to Culver City in 1975. Linda worked as an Administrative Assistant and business owner in the electronics industry for many years, until she retired.
After suffering renal failure, Linda founded the Westside Kidney Support Group to help others suffering from this devastating disease. In recognition for all of her devotion to her group and the cause, she was awarded Public Citizen of the Year, 2012 by the National Association of Social Workers, California Chapter, and also the California Region H winner by the same entity. She took great pride in these awards and her Support Group.
Linda was also active in the Venice High Alumni Group and enjoyed catching up with former classmates at the numerous functions she attended.
Linda's favorite hobby was baking. She took great joy in passing out her baked treats throughout her neighborhood and with her Support Group, the staff at the Fresenius Dialysis Center and the physicians and staff who took such great care of her throughout her journey. She was always asked to bake cakes for birthdays and the cake most requested was her carrot cake. Each time, she would gladly bake the cake, despite the fact that no one in her family liked carrot cake.
Linda and her devoted husband Vince were greatly admired for their long and loving relationship and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, surrounded by friends and family.
In accordance with her wishes, her body has been cremated. A celebration service will be held in her honor on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. Augustine's Catholic Church, 3850 Jasmine Avenue, Culver City, CA 90230. A reception will follow.
