Westside Neighborhood School Announces February 25 Speakers

February 5, 2015

Following the success of their most recent speaker series featuring Dr. Wendy Mogel, Westside Neighborhood School announces their next speaker series event, featuring Marty Nislick and Dr. Cara Natterson on February 25 beginning at 7 pm. Marty and Cara will team up for this informative evening, discussing the topic of talking to children about human development.

Nislick, a licensed marriage and family therapist, has extensive experience teaching parenting and human growth and development at multiple Los Angeles area schools, as well as 15 years of owning a private practice. He has also taught human growth and development for Disney actors and is both a former school counselor and former executive of the Maple Center in Beverly Hills.

Natterson, MD is a New York Times bestselling author and pediatrician. She has published several books including The Care and Keeping of You 1: The Body Book for Younger Girls and The Care and Keeping of You 2: The Body Book for Older Girls. Cara travels the country speaking to kids and their parents about how to take ownership of their health and wellness.

Together this duo will bring their expertise to the community to help parents learn about how, when, and where to have “the talk” with their child, and present tools that parents can use to make the discussion more manageable and have a greater, lasting impact. With information about growth and development spanning both sexes and different ages and stages, the presentation will be engaging for all parents. During this interactive night, parents will get answers to the questions that matter to them most.

WNS is thrilled to welcome both Marty Nislick and Cara Natterson to its campus to speak on a topic that every parent can relate to, no matter what the age of their child. Parent education, a core value at WNS, helps build community, which is one of the four pillars of success at WNS. Through this community building as well as an outstanding academic and social learning program, WNS is able to offer all of its students an environment that is safe and supportive throughout every stage of their physical and emotional growth and development.

With their combined expertise working together, both Cara and Marty seek to make the topic of human development more approachable for parents. They will be at Westside Neighborhood School, 5401 Beethoven Street, Los Angeles. The event is open to the public free of charge with an RSVP. Please RSVP to speakerseries@wnsk8.com. You may also send any questions to Marty and Cara in advance with your RSVP.
