La Ballona Creek Cleanup

September 18, 2014

On Saturday, September 20 from 9 am to noon the Ballona Creek Renaissance (BRC) will be meeting at the Ballona Creek bike path entrance next to the Culver City Julian Dixon Library at4975 Overland Avenue to conduct the annual Ballona Creek cleanup.

As part of the biggest global volunteer day, you can participate to help clean the creek and bay right next to BCR's very first project, the Postcards From Ballona mural.

You will meet other motivated volunteers, pick up trash, learn about the creek and still enjoy the rest of your day. BRC invites you to come make a difference.

Culver City residents join over 12,000 volunteers from all over Los Angeles County to help clean our beaches and waterways of debris.

Volunteers of all ages are welcome. It’s also a great way for students to earn community service credits. As with all creek and coastal cleanups, participants under 18 need waiver forms signed by their parent or guardian (available on-site or online). Adult volunteers also need to sign waivers.

The goal is to be a zero waste event, which means we will try to limit the trash we produce staging the event. Bring your own water in a reusable container; water will also be available at the event.

Feel free to bring your own gear, but bags, buckets, grabbers, gloves and other tools will be available to use. Wear closed-toed shoes, cap and sunscreen.
