A new non-profit “Friends of the Culver City Scout House” organization has been launched designed to preserve, maintain and operate the Culver City Scout House for the benefit of youth groups and other community organizations. The well-used building has served as a meeting place for numerous scouting organizations since the early 1940s and was moved to its current location, 10866 Culver Blvd., around 1950. The Culver City Scout House, currently home to Boy Scout Troop 113, along with an annex used as the Culver City Rock & Mineral Club’s workshop, is in need of some long-term repairs. The property is currently operated under an existing lease with the City of Culver City, and the FOCCSH has been formed to provide funding for these much-needed repairs and secure a new lease. Visit the website http://culvercityscouthouse.org (and enjoy listening to “Cub Scout Rock” while you’re learning more!).
