In two matchups of the best high school basketball teams in Southern California, the girls and boys CIF Southern Section Open Division Championships were held at the Fowler Events Center on the campus of California Baptist University in Riverside. The games were played on Friday Night, February 23rd. In the first game of the evening, Etiwanda High School Eagles of Rancho Cucamonga easily defeated the Sierra Canyon High School Trailblazers of Chatsworth, 65-44. The boys' basketball team was beaten by Rolling Hills Prep 74-62 in a very loud gym at Los Angeles Harbor Community College.
