    Bill Seals, Sports Reporter|Apr 11, 2024

The great UCLA center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar once said, "You won't win until you learn how to lose. I don't like to do it, to lose, but I can stand it. Along with everything else, you have to acquire the ability to accept defeat. No one makes it without stumbling." Abdul-Jabbar won three national championships at UCLA and six NBA Championships. A lesson the UCLA Bruins women's basketball team will need to learn. The LSU Tigers defeated the UCLA Bruins in a Sweet Sixteen matchup, 78-69, ending the B...

The UCLA Bruins had handed the Trojans one of those nine conference losses, a 65-50 embarrassing defeat at the Galen Center, the Trojans home court, a few weeks ago. The Bruins had won eight of their last 10 games and the sellout crowd of 13,659 fans at Pauley Pavilion was expecting a victory from the Bruins. Despite...

  • UCLA to battle USC after a stunning last second loss to Utah

    Bill Seals, Sports Reporter|Feb 22, 2024

Under head coach Mick Cronin, the UCLA Bruins are considered one of the best defensive teams in men's college basketball. In his first four seasons at UCLA, the defense has gotten the Bruins to a Final Four appearance, three consecutive Sweet Sixteen appearances, and a regular season Pac-12 conference championship in the 2022-2023 season. But even a good defensive team cannot win without help from the offense. The Bruins have struggled on offense this season and it caught up with them again...

    Mykell Mathieu, sSports Reporter|Nov 16, 2023

The USC men’s basketball team didn’t have enough to stage a comeback late as they were defeated, 70-60, by UC Irvine last Tuesday at the Galen Center on the USC campus. USC came into this game as the No.16 ranked team in the country and struggled in front of a packed Galen Center crowd. “They played a very good game and made some tough shots. But this is more about us. You can't shoot 28% from the field and expect to beat a good team,” USC coach Andy Enfield said after the game. The Trojans played the game without two of their best players...

The Pac-12 conference held their final men's basketball media day meeting last week in Las Vegas, and the results were predictable. The Pac-12 coaches are not happy about being treated as second-class citizens to football and the basketball writers are picking the Arizona Wildcats to win the Pac-12 men's basketball title. It was not an upbeat event. With the disintegration of the Pac-12 conference in the offseason, there will be ten schools leaving for three different conferences. UCLA, USC,...
