Alejandro "Alex" Delacruz Ortega

1968-2018

 

Longtime Culver City resident and Culver High graduate Alejandro "Alex" Ortega has passed away quietly at his home, surrounded by his family and friends. He was 50 years old.

He was born in 1968 in Los Angeles to Juan "Leo" and Candelaria Ortega and was raised in Culver City. Alex graduated from Culver High in 1986.

Alex was good with his hands and enjoyed creating things. He was a master craftsman and worked as a cabinet maker. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends. He was an excellent cook and had an unshakeable faith in God.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Candelaria and his aunt, Zoila Martinez.

Alex is survived by his father Leo, brothers Juan (Sarah) and Carlos (Wendy) and his sister, Josefina (Donald). He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends too numerous to count.

The Rosary and visitation will be at Holy Cross Mortuary, 5835 West Slauson Ave, Culver City, CA on July 6, 2018 5-8 p.m.

A Mass of Catholic Burial will be held July 7, 2018 at 10 am, St Augustine's Church, 3850 Jasmine Ave, Culver City, CA. Internment will proceed immediately after, at Holy Cross Cemetery, 5835 West Slauson Ave, Culver City, CA.

Immediately after the internment, Alex's family would like to invite family and friends to celebrate his life at American Legion Post # 46, 5309 Sepulveda Blvd., Culver City.
