Culver City Schools Open Despite Skirball Fire

Skirball Fire from 405 Freeway in Culver City

The Culver City Unified School District announced this morning that all schools in the district are open.

Culver Blvd. on and off ramps were clogged after the CHP closed the 405 at the 10 freeway

The Skirball Fire erupted early Wednesday morning above Bel Air filling the air on the Westside with smoke and ash. It appears the worst of it is blowing to the west, leaving Culver City relatively smoke free. The Santa Monica-Malibu School District has cancelled classes at all schools in their district.

Culver City is restricting all outdoor activities and students will remain indoors for the duration of the day, Officials at the district are monitoring the fire ion case the wind changes direction and further restrictions are required.
