Steve,

I writing you as President/CEO of the Culver City Chamber of Commerce and you as a past Chair of the Board. I find it disturbing that your Centennial publication choose to pick one position of the chamber over its 96-year history as Culver City’s leading business organization to leave a negative image of the Chamber for history to judge us by for current and future citizens of Culver City.

As a matter of fact, 50% of the RAP program is being spent on administrative overhead; we did not think that was an appropriate expenditure of rare city funds, since the state took away the Culver City Redevelopment Agency Funds that was paying for the RAP program and many other housing projects over the 40 years of the agency.

As a matter of history, there were members of the city council that supported the doing away of the Agency, that found out, because of their lack of knowledge; it caused a loss in housing funds that came exclusively from commercial property owners.

Who, besides the Culver City Chamber of Commerce supported all four of the Culver City Unified School District elections for school bonds, property tax hikes as well as a half cent sales tax increase to buffer the city after the loss of Redevelopment Agency Funds. No one! It’s a shame that your writer did not do appropriate research when writing his version of history in Culver City.
