Bring the whole family for fun-filled, improvised performances by Culver City Middle School’s Improv Program. In its eighth successful year the CCMS Improv Program will hold five unique performances on the weekend of May 6 and 7. Saturday shows will be held at noon, 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., while Sunday performances will be held at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. All performances will be held in the Fine Arts Theater at West L.A. College, 9000 Overland Avenue in Culver City. (Enter the college from Overland and turn right at Albert Vera (2nd right at the baseball field). Go up the hill to the South Parking Structure. Audience must park on Level 2 (it will feel like you’ve gone up 3 levels); walk out of the northeast corner of the parking structure. A Parking Usher will guide you to the theater. Parking is free and accessible to all)Tickets are only sold online at http://tinyurl.com/m32z585. Discounts are available for CCUSD staff/students; and CCUSD fifth-graders are admitted free with paid adult. The CCMS Improv Program is an after-school activity offered to all interested CCMS students. Taught by the same energetic, highly skilled professional improvisers for the last seven years, students work in weekly classes, monthly intensive workshops, and a pre-show weekend workshop to develop two performances per year. The CCMS Improv Program naturally develops students' inherent theatrical talent, but rather than focusing on creating “performers,” it develops vital life skills of acceptance, flexibility, critical thinking, commitment, persistence, kindness, teamwork, and creating serious fun! These skills translate directly to students’ academic performance, emotional/social intelligence, and their development of themselves as capable, mindful contributors to the world around them. Don’t miss these performances at the beautiful Fine Arts Theater at West LA College! Just like our students, each show is one-of-a-kind, totally unrehearsed, and driven by audience suggestions.
