Kentwood Announces "Big Fish" Auditions

December 1, 2016

Kentwood Players will hold open auditions for the musical "Big Fish" with Music and Lyrics by Andrew Lippa and Book by John August, on Saturday, January 14, 2017 from 11 am to 2 pm and Sunday, January 15 from 6 pm to 9 pm.

Callbacks by invitation only will be held on Monday, January 16 at 7 pm.

This is a non-equity, non-paid production led by Director/Musical Director Catherine Rahm with choreography by Alison Mattiza and produced by Lori A. Marple-Pereslete by special arrangement with Theatrical Rights Worldwide. Performance dates are March 17 to April 22, 2017 on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 2 pm. Auditions and performances will take place at the Westchester Playhouse, 8301 Hindry Avenue, Los Angeles.

"Big Fish" centers on the story of Edward Bloom who has lived a full and fantastical life, populated by witches, giants, and mermaids, marked by true love that stops time in its tracks, and framed by heroics that push the limits of believability.

His adult son, Will, is no longer amused by his father's fantastical tales, insisting on a rational rather than a fantastical account of one's life. When Edward's health declines, and Will learns that he and his wife, Josephine, will have a son of their own, Will decides to find out his father's "true" life story, once and for all.

Those auditioning should allow time to sign-in and complete paperwork. Please bring a current headshot and resume with you as well as your calendar. A rehearsal schedule will be posted at auditions and you will be asked to note any conflicts.

Catherine and Alison ask everyone to please prepare 32 bars of any musical theatre song. An accompanist will be provided. Wear comfortable clothing and be prepared to dance. No appointments are necessary. Kentwood Players practices color-blind casting and all ethnicities are encouraged to audition. If you have any questions, please contact the production team at BigFish@kentwoodplayers.org.
