UCLA Football Facing That Fork In The Road

October 27, 2016

The UCLA football team is hoping that its bye week will help them regroup and put them in a position to climb back into the winning column.

They have lost three games in a row and they have dropped to fifth place in a si- team Pac-12 Southern Conference. Their overall record is 3-5 and they are 1-4 in conference play.

Their running game has basically disappeared and their passing game, without injured star quarterback Josh Rosen creates to many turnovers with costly interceptions. Last week against Utah the Bruins’ defense gave up a ton of yards on the ground.

“We are not playing well right now,” said UCLA head coach Jim Mora after their 52-45 loss to Utah last Saturday. “When you give up a lot of yards rushing and you have that many turnovers (five) you are not going to win a lot of games.”

Mora wants his team to stay focused. “The important thing is that our players continue to support each other, search for answers and continue to come out and work hard. These are life lessons you learn in athletic competition.”

The biggest problem facing the 2016 UCLA football team is their inability to run the ball. At the beginning of the year the running game was one of their bright spots. “We just have to keep working every day,” said sophomore Bolu Olorunfunmi after the Utah game. “The same faith we have in our passing game we need to put that faith in our running game.”

The Bruins’ next game is on the road against a good Colorado team on Thursday, November 3 at 6 p.m.
