Hall of Fame For Johnnies Pastrami

For more than 65 years Westside residents have flocked to Johnnies Pastrami and now the Vienna Beef Company has recognized what Culverites already knew and inducted Johnnies into the Vienna Beef Hall of Fame.

In the letter from the Chairman of the Board James Eisenberg he states that owners Bob and Sue Bass “have grown Johnnie’s Pastrami into a Southern California icon.”

Noting their “landmark” status he pointed out that “Consistency and quality have been the secret ingredients,” and that Vienna Beef was proud to be part of Johnnies success from the beginning.

Recognized by the Culver City Historical Society and other organizations, Johnnies’ building retains the unique style of the 1950’s. World War II was over, it was boom time for the United States and people were happy. The modern era has swept away most of the ’50s but Johnnies is still a place where you can be transported back in time to a wonderful and bygone era where you can play songs on the original juke boxes on each table, enjoy the delicious kosher pickles placed on each table and savor on a Vienna Beef pastrami and corned beef sandwich, chili dogs, charbroiled burgers, golden brown chicken, fish and shrimp baskets.

On hand to present the award were James Deneck, Vice President of National Sales and Kathy Magnum, Director of Sales for California.
