UCLA To Host USC In Baseball This Weekend

UCLA and USC will continue their rivalry in baseball this weekend when the Bruins host the Trojans in a three game series starting tonight at 7 pm inside Jackie Robinson Stadium on the Veterans campus in West Los Angeles.

The stadium is located a few blocks west of the Westwood campus on Sepulveda, a block north of Wilshire Blvd.

The Bruins are 23-23 at press time and their Pac-12 conference record stands at 10-11. They continue their home stand against the Trojans on Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 6 p.m. On Tuesday they host UC Santa Barbara at 6 p.m. and play a three game series at home against Arizona State next Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

USC’s baseball team is currently 21-24 overall and 10-10 in Pac-12 play. They return home to Rod Dedeaux field next Friday to start a thre-game series against Oregon State. Friday’s game starts at 7 p.m. The game on Saturday will begin at 1 p.m. and Sunday’s game will start at 12 p.m.

The Trojans are led by the bats of David Oppenheim, who is hitting .383, catcher Jeremy Martinez is batting .371 and AJ Ramirez is hitting .340 and also leads the team in home runs with eight. USC’s biggest problem this year is consistent pitching. No pitcher has won more than four games.

UCLA’s offense is led by Luke Persico, who is batting .322 and Eric Filia who is hitting .312. UCLA is also having pitching problems. None of UCLA’s pitchers have recorded more than five wins.
