Fred Altieri Will Cover The Rams For Observer

Fred Alieri

Before I write anything else about this I want to assure you readers that Fred Altieri will continue to provide his exceptional coverage of Culver City High sports for The Observer.

Having said that I'm announcing that Fred has been chosen over several other candidates to become our Rams beat writer.

Because local coverage is essential to a community newspaper we didn't want to take Fred off the Culver City High beat. And he didn't want to give it up.

"I enjoy high school sports," said Altieri. "I find it very rewarding to share the experience with players, parents, coaches and the faculty."

Fred has done such outstanding work here since joining the Observer in 2012 I thought he might help out our coverage of the Clippers a year ago since my primary backup on that beat, Bosmat Eynav, spends several months in her native Israel each year.

But Fred was so busy with high school coverage we never got around to it.

"The Rams makes much more sense since they play only once a week," said Altieri.

"I've enjoyed watching the Rams since I was four years old,." I watched them play in the Coliseum."

The Rams left LA for St. Louis 22 years ago. Now they're back, and they'll have a new stadium in Inglewood in a few years. Until then they'll play in the Coliseum.

Fred begins his coverage with a rams story in this week's paper.
