The Culver City Julian Dixon Library reopened on February 20 after a yearlong remake of the interior.

The library has been at its present location for about 40 years. Prior to that it was located at Veteran's Park in the building that now houses the Culver City Teen Center. The original library was housed at the corner of Braddock and Lafayette.

Co-President of the Culver City Friends of the Library Nancy Kuechle commented, "This all began, as you may recall with the idea that we needed some new furniture. The money from the book sales – used books for a dollar each- was what we had saved up through the years to get new furniture. What we got ended up being a lot more than that."

While the building is old and tired looking the interior is new and modern. New computers, lap top lockers to check out laptops, self -checkout stations, and a new children's section.

The county even installed solar panels to cover spaces on the parking lot to generate electricity for the library.
