Kentwood Players Announces Open Auditions For "SOMETHING'S AFOOT"

August 6, 2015

Kentwood Players will hold open auditions for the murder mystery musical spoof "SOMETHING'S AFOOT" on Saturday, September 12 from 1 pm through 4 pm, and Sunday, September 13 from 6 pm through 9 pm. Callbacks, if needed, will be Monday, September 14 at 7 pm.

This is a non-equity, non-paid production directed by Catherine Rahm with choreography by Alison Mattiza, produced by Lori A. Marple Pereslete by special arrangement with Samuel French. Performance dates are November 13 to December 19, 2015 on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 2 pm. Auditions and performances take place at the Westchester Playhouse, located at 8301 Hindry Avenue in Los Angeles.

"SOMETHING'S AFOOT" is a musical that spoofs detective stories, most particularly Agatha Christie's, And Then There Were None (a.k.a. Ten Little Indians). The book, music, and lyrics were written by James McDonald, David Vos, and Robert Gerlach, with additional music by Ed Linderman. The play involves a group of standard British mystery characters (the Cockney servants, the brash retired military man, the imperious dowager, the snoopy spinster, the ne'er-do-well nephew, the ingénue couple) who are invited to the lake estate of Lord Dudley Rancour. When the wealthy lord is found dead, it's a comical race against the clock and some outrageous booby traps to find out whodunit.
