Culver Runners Needed For Marathon in Japan

October 23, 2014

The Culver City Sister City Committee is searching for two qualified local runners---one male and one female---to run in the 22nd annual Senshu International Marathon on Sunday, February 15, 2015 in Osaka, Japan.

Applicants must be over 18 years of age, have completed a full marathon within the last two years in four hours, fifteen minutes (which must be verified), be a regular runner, be fit and in training for a marathon and be able to run in winter conditions.

Participants will be hosted by our sister city, Kaizuka City, Japan. As citizen diplomats, they will reside with separate host families in Kaizuka City during the five day, six night stay. As participants in this marathon, they will meet other sister city runners for a number of cities in metropolitan Osaka, as well as many international runners. Covered expenses include airfare, lodging, meals and sightseeing.

The selected runners will be required to become a member of the Culver City Sister City Committee, Inc., and will agree to reciprocate and host in their homes a Kaizuka City runner arriving in March 2015 to participate in the Los Angeles Marathon on behalf of Kaizuka City and Culver City. Priority will be given to Culver City residents, or people who work in Culver City and live within two miles of the city limits.

Anyone who is interested in applying for this lifetime opportunity should contact Tim Petersen, Kaizuka Marathon Chair, at ccscc.inc@gmail.com. Completed applications must be returned via e-mail to ccscc.inc@gmail.com or mailed and received no later than November 3, 2014 to Culver City Sister City Committee P.O. Box 1072, Culver City, CA 90232.
