Former Culver Fireman Ray Moselle Dies at 98

Ray Moselle, 98, of Culver City,died on September 10 after a long illness.

He is survived by his sons Raymond and Richard (Nancy), his grandchildren Amanda Hyder (Travis), Vanessa Moselle (Anthony), Natalie Phillips (Christopher), Bryan Moselle (Anne) and five great grandchildren.

Ray was born in Milwaukee on July 6, 1916 and came to Los Angeles in 1932. He graduated from Hamilton High in 1936, where he met his future wife, Ramona. Ramona passed away in 2005 after 69 years of marriage.

Ray joined the Culver City Fire Dept. in 1937 and retired as Battalion Chief in 1972.

In 1958, Ray and his oldest son started Surfboards by Moselle and continued manufacturing surfboards until 1964. Ray then became a realtor and was active for many years.

Ray loved fishing, woodworking, but most of all spending time with all of his family.

Funeral services will be held at the chapel at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City on Friday, September 19 at 11 am. A viewing will immediately precede the service.

Relatives and friends are welcome.
