Kentwood Kids Play To Begin

Kentwood Players will present its next Kentwood Kids production, "Mr. Potcher's Holiday," a family musical comedy with book and lyrics by Bob Silberg, music by Barbara Klaskin Silberg.

Performances will take place on Saturdays, November 30, December 7 and 14 at 11 am and 2 pm at the Westchester Playhouse, wo blocks west of the San Diego Freeway and two blocks north of Manchester at 8301 Hindry Avenue in Westchester.

The production is directed by Drew Fitzsimmons and Melodie S. Rivers, choreographed by Lulu Peña, costumed by Marie Olivas, and produced by Melodie S. Rivers and Bruce Starrett.

The musical tells the story of Mr. Potcher, a school consultant, who eliminates all extracurricular activities. When a young student named Darcy tries to persuade him to reinstate these activities, he not only remains unconvinced, he decides to also do away with all the holidays--actually eliminate them from existence.

The iconic holiday characters (Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, Cupid, Leprechaun, Jack o'Lantern and Thanksgiving Turkey) conspire with Darcy to change Mr. Potcher's mind.

Featured in the multigenerational cast are Dylan Bailey, Kenjo Cable, Tyler Cable, Melana Dix, Riley Dix, Drew Fitzsimmons, Logan R. Hannig, Sarah-V Harnden, Trevor Hart, Osric Holt, Stephanie Hotz, George Kondreck, Kobe Kubes, Steven Lerner, Fiona Okida, Katie Reinhold, Valerie Ruel, Jennifer Sperry, Hollister Starrett, Genevieve Thomas, Isabel van Aaist, Skylar Washington and Ja'von Willis

Tickets are $10 with a special family four-pack of seats for $35. Please call (310) 645-5156 for reservations Wednesday through Saturday from 4 pm to-7. Visa, MasterCard, and American Express accepted. Special needs seating is available in the front row and should be arranged with the box office at the time of ticket purchase.

All audience members are invited to meet the cast in the theater lobby after the performance. Parents are welcome to bring a camera for photo opportunities during the after performance reception only.

An adult must accompany all children in the theater.
